Lionfish Hunting

The lionfish is an invasive species in the waters of Curacao. They endanger the corals, because they eat all the small fish that are supposed to keep the corals healthy. That's why we organize hunting trips every day where you have the opportunity to hunt lionfish during your dive.

Every day we go out for lionfish hunts on Curacao. We offer a variety of programs for everyone’s needs and experience. The two shore diving trips we offer are both in the morning and afternoon. So always something that fits your schedule.

Thor picked us up from the cruise ship right on time.... read more Went to their shop about 5 minutes away. Filled out our dive forms & pickup tanks. For our first dive at Kokomo Beach. He gave us an overview of the dive. My max depth was 73' for 45 minutes. Thor pointed to us things that we would have not spotted on our own. This was a very easy dive.  The second dive was at Snake Bay 65' for 43 minutes. Both dives were what our computers would allow us to dive. Went back to the shop to rinse out our gear and filled out dive log. The dive experience was so professional I told Thor we would back in 7 days to dive again on my birthday.  Our first dive was the Tug Boat & then The Water factory. Again, we dove to our computer limits. A fantastic dive company and staff were very enthusiastic. Many thanks go out to Thor and Jane the office manager. We'll dive with you again the next time. Highly recommended.

					  I dove with various instructors at the diveshop through my time in curaçao and did several courses, mainly with Thor and Pleunie, but I also had the chance to dive... read more with Jane and Kenzy and all I have to say is that they are all absolutely incredible people and fantastic instructors. Insanely knowledgeable, very kind, helpful and very patient and reassuring. If they weren't as awesome I probably wouldn't have done a single course with them and just done the dives with their Dive Society but I did my advanced open water, wreck diver and nitrox with them and wish I'd had the time to do more. My partner came to visit me and wanted to do his open water so he could dive with me and in the end loved diving with Thor so much he also did his advanced just so he could spend more time with his man-crush 😉 Truly the nicest bunch of fish in the world I hope I can come back soon to dive with them again!

During the discover lionfish program we introduce you with the hunting gear and safety procedures. After fine-tuning your buoyancy and practice shooting in the sand it’s time to dive the reef.

Minimum requirement is Open Water Diver certification and dived within the last 12 months.

The lionfish has been an invasive species over many year in Curacao. We organize 2 tank hunting trips every day where you have the opportunity to hunt them during your dive. During the lionfish expedition we introduce you with the hunting gear and safety procedures. After fine-tuning your buoyancy and practice shooting in the sand it’s time to dive the reef.

Minimum requirement is Open Water Diver certification and dived within the last 12 months.

Lionfish Specialty

The invasive lionfish has been around in the Caribbean for years. Together with SSI we offer a Specialty called Invasive Lionfish Tracker. Learn more about this species and get ready to hunt them down in Curacao! During the course we cover some theory, buoyancy skills and use of hunting equipment. When you have completed 2 dives you will be certified as a Invasive Lionfish Tracker.

Minimum requirement is Advanced Open Water certification, 15 years old, reasonable fit and able to swim.
